I felt I should answer this because I doubt there are many as qualified as I am still alive. Iwas shot in the head with a 22 rifle at just a few feet away. The bullet entered my mouth above my lip blew 3 teeth and a large part of my gums and tounge away (was a hollow point hunting round) and went through my esophagus and nicked my vocal cords and lodged adjacent to my 2nd vertabrae. There is much more to it than that like how I had to walk 1 1/2 miles home in 90+ degree heat but I will stick to theanswer.No there is really not any pain, If u have ever suffered a major trauma like this u know that your body will release enough natural painkiller that it numbs the area. My heart rate got down to 22 beats per minute and I know I was very near death. I actually felt peaceful because somehow I knew I wasn't gonna die. I was only 12 and was pretty naive about it all so maybe that was part of it as well. What the drs. especially the surgeon did at the hospital was far worse than the gunshot and healing but they saved my life and I am grateful.
