What is the single most effective piece of financial advice you've ever received?

I would mention two advice:

• "Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it ... he who doesn't ... pays it."                                 - Albert Einstein

The second one is actually a wonder if you think about it.
